Hello, hello! I hope everyone is doing well. I am still laying down and trying to recover from the flu. I sure hope it goes away soon. I have been out of commission for two weeks and I am just wasting the good weather that Seattle is actually having! When i am not trying to take care of the monkeys or not too tired, I have been trying to catch up on my tv watching. heh.
I am an avid PBS Masterpiece Theatre fan. I look forward to each new series with eagerness every time. Birdsong was no exception, especially when I found out Clémence Poésy (Fleur Delacour from Harry Potter) plays the role of Isabelle Azaire.
Based on the Sebastian Faulks novel, Birdsong tells the story of Stephen's awakening to love and his determination to reclaim it. The story is set in the 1910-1916. Without giving away too much, there is a war, camaraderie, forbidden love, heartbreak, misunderstanding, loss and gain.
So while I enjoyed watching it the first time, it won't be one that I would watch again. I just did not love it like I normally do for the PBS' pieces. Maybe I couldn't get behind the infidelity part of the whole story. With that said, I did love the beautiful serene scenery and the costumes.

On another note, Sherlock Season 2 is on! Sherlock is one of my favourite things on PBS. If you know me, I have already talked your ear off why I do not like the Hollywood version of Sherlock Holmes. PBS' version is so much better in so many ways. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are both brilliant in the series. Season 1 was done in such a clever manner, I hope I won't be disappointed with Season 2. I am waiting for the husband to be less busy with school before I start watching it. I cannot wait!
