reading materials

I've finally started packing for my flight ... later today to Hong Kong.  I am looking forward to taking steps in discussing about starting my own line, but anxious about being apart from my husband and kids for a week.

For a long flight like US to Hong Kong, I always make sure my carry-on is filled with excellent reading materials.  I had the chance to finally hang out with my dear school friends Alena & Chelsea today.  We stopped by Barnes & Noble, and afterwards Anthropologie.  I loved browsing through magazines.  Alena and I agreed that these are like books and we would never ever cut them out, even for our beloved homework assignments (haha) -  that's when you can tell your magazine is good.  Thank you ladies for a lovely time!

Reading
(magazines: Jalouse, Elle Collections (UK), Lula, and Muse)

Reading Jalouse is making wish I kept up with my French a little better... it's a good thing my former French teachers aren't my readers!

Interviewed by Darrah's Dresser

Eunice-darrah's-dresser

I met Darrah from Darrah's Dresser about a month ago.  She interviewed me on my "i dream in cake" collection, and myself as a designer.

Check out the interview!  She was wonderful to talk to, as if I was just chatting with my girlfriend about clothes.

"you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape"

Grey-garden3

HBO will be airing "Grey Gardens", based on the lives of "Little Edie" &  "Big Edie", played by Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange respectively.  Director-writer Michael Sucsy has based this new movie on the original Maysles Brother's classic documentary.

Grey-garden1

Little Edie and Big Edie is the mother-daughter duo, who not only are the extraordinary relatives of Jackie O, but also possess a deep bond while living in a disheveled and unkempt East Hampton mansion.

Grey-garden2

The movie debuts today (March 18) on HBO.  The screenshots caught my attention, and I'm excited to compare the two versions -- and whether or not the HBO version will live up to the story and the documentary.

The scarves, hats and brooches look lovely.  I especially loved the use of the white hooded dress with a zipper, which was revolutionary at the time.  I want to see what else costume designer Cat Thomas will come up with during the rest of the film!  Here's a sneak preview...

easter saturday - daydream nation, birthday & sushi cake

I had a wonderful Easter Saturday.  We had a birthday party at a friend's house, a very relaxing saturday indeed.  I know this first part of my post has absolutely nothing to do with fashion.  However, you
know my love for food, and pretty things.  This sushi cake is one of
the most amazing thing I have ever seen.  My friend Angie
is the mastermind behind it.  She used cake, covered with fondant
(nori, sea creatures, wasabi & ginger), and used 10 boxes of
minty tic-tacs all over it for rice.  Such genius and well... just plain
funny.

Remember my S/S Daydream nation post?  Since it did not rain as I thought, I gladly wore my new "Love is in the air" dress that I got from my good friend Kay in Hong Kong.
